"Leave Her Wild."

Updated: Dec 5, 2019

Emma has been in all over the country and Canada this week roping. She didn't do well the first couple of nights but then split 4th and 5th at the big one in Canada. She was so down and with that little win, pepped right back up again. Why do we do that to ourselves? Perhaps because she was raised to be a winner and knows that dad is going to chew on her and mom isn't much better these days. "Get your tip down, stand up, get the rope out of your hand..." And on and on. We are full of information but only she can actually execute it. J.T. was sure she was only pouting because she was so far from home. I laughed when she told me that and I said "Well he's wrong because you cry when you miss at they Lucky J, 10 minutes from home." We laughed and laughed. He was actually a little right. She gets a little weepy far from home.

J.T. sent me a few of his roping videos this week and the Cowboy was critiquing him too. Mainly because he's on our horse but also because we love him. We aren't being mean. If we didn't care about you, we wouldn't say a thing. But if we claim you as our own, or you ask our opinion, be ready for it. We're gonna tell you everything you did wrong and also everything you did right.

The tiny has apparently been in a bit of trouble with her boyfriend this week. I only learned this information when I sent her a copy of a text I had received from J.T.. I had sent him a picture of my tiny Jack Russell Max in jail and he replied, "I'm not so sure your daughter doesn't have about a quarter Jack Russell in her." Hahahahahahaha! I said "Oh honey, it's a full 1/2 and unfortunately, it's from me. Emma immediately sent me a video of a song called "Leave Her Wild" by Tyler Rich. You have to listen to it. I just cried and laughed all at the same time because it describes her perfectly. She loves her family so much and is such a little homebody but boy when you get her out of the home zone, look out world. In the words of the great Bill Scott, "She's more fun than a two petered puppy." She has a blast everywhere she goes. She deep down belly laughs just like her momma and we both have a two drink limit. She loves Jesus, love to dance, loves to ride, loves to love. She can run fast on the ground or on a horse and can steal the heart of the meanest dog, fiercest stallion or rip of a mare. It's a beautiful thing to watch. Both of my girls are that way but the tiny, is the wild one. She's her mother's daughter.

We were sitting in Ft. Worth last weekend and stone cold sober I might add, discussing a friend's horse who had suddenly died. This horse was the bomb.com and just got really sick and eventually died. Emma was trying to tell me the reason and got tongue tied and in a very serious conversation she said "Blister Bleetles" and we laughed until we cried. I'll never call them Blister Beetles again. They will forever be..."Blister Bleetles." And man McKenzie, I am so very honey for your loss. What a tragedy. I know how it feels to lose a great one and my heart still hearts. And it hurts for you too. It's not fair.

I had gone to the vet last week and being in the brain fog I'm currently under, I was about 3 hours late. I thought the appointment was at a completely different time but luckily, we are friends and they didn't shoot me. Plus I had Max with me and he's really cute. We were discussing Miss Emma and her tiny body, gigantic horses and expensive hobby of rodeo and this man of very few words said to me, "You know, I've met a lot of kids in this world and in this day and age, I don't know one better." My heart just dropped. He was so right. I laughed and said "thank you" but that was the sweetest compliment ever. I know that about her but others see it too? The Cowboy teared up when I shared it with him. That wild one. Stealing hearts all over. I couldn't be prouder.

"How 'bout them cowgirls, Boys ain't they something? Sure are some proud girls, And you can't teach them nothing. And I tell you right now girls, May just be seven wonders of this big, whole round world...But how 'bout them cowgirls. Boy she don't need you and she don't need me, She can do just fine on her own wo feet. But she wants a man who wants her to be herself. And she'll never change, don't know how to hide, her stubborn will or her fighting side, But you treat her right and she'll love you like no one else...Yeah how 'bout them cowgirls, Boys ain't they something, sure are some proud girls, But you can't beat their loving, and I'll tell you right now girls, May just be seven wonders of this big, old round world, But how 'bout them cowgirls. How 'bout 'em boys." - Song by George Strait.

I love you my tiny, mighty, cowgirl. Don't you ever let anybody take away that beautiful wild and free spirit of yours. You're an original, for sure Emma Charleston. How 'bout them cowgirls. ;)

My tiny little wild child.
